Having trouble starting gas trimmer after maintenance

My hand-held weed trimmer wont start only with engine starter fluid it will. I sprayed carburetor cleaner as told into the carburetor and changed the spark plug. With the starter fluid the pull feels easier but engine runs only a few seconds. Without the chord is tougher and doesn't start. And ran before maintenance but only for a minute or two.

use 2 stroke gas only

1. put button to start position

2. put choke in full

3. push primer 4 times

4. pull rope 1-2 times

5. put choke off

6. pull 1-2 times there it start

sometimes the fuel line inside the tank can dry rot and brake so you might not be getting fuel to the engine. Check the fuel lines make sure it is getting fuel.
