Having trouble weening my baby mourning doves?

They're seed eating birds...and currently I'm feeding them Kaytee Exact. I've been mixing millet with it, but they refuse to eat it- they just let the formula dripple down their neck. I've tried to handfeed seeds, by dropping it in they're beaks...and tat didn't work out either. I don't no where they learned this but like, they hold the seed in their beaks, and they literally spit it out at me -__- . Mocha got one in my eye yesterday. I put them outside, on the cement, where all the wild sparrows are that come to steal my dogs food, and Mocha and Hershey pecked at the dog food crumbs a couple of times, but had no interest in it. I'm getting worried b/c they are almost 4 weeks old. Please give me any advice to ween them! Thanks.

  2. Is there a wildlife rehabilitation center in your area? A good idea would be to call them and ask. I work at one and although I can't answer this question for you seeing as I just volunteer and have no professional animal medicine experience I am unable to give you advice. But the people I work with could best tell you what to do. Look it up in your phone book. There might be a toll-free hotline type of number as well. That's your best bet. Ask the pros.
