My fiance and i are trying to find stuff for out wedding that we both like..

But we are having alot of trouble.

I love bright colors [pink is my number one], Orchids, Crystals, etc.

Everything i like he says is ugly, he doesnt like it, etc but when i ask him what he likes he said he doesnt know.

And he hates how everyone says that the wedding day is about the bride because its a special day for the bride and groom.

I'm a hands on learning person so pictures help alot. :]

Food is a issue also, My fiance's family is from Florida, they love Sea food, i hate sea food.

I'm From Tennessee i love Chicken and southern cooking.

So i'm guessing we will do both..

i also want to have a candy/desert bar.

I just need alot of help.

Please help me with anything..

  1. Here's some general advice.  When you ask a question about your wedding, limit it to one or two related topics.  It's overwhelming to look at your question and think, well, there's nothing I can say to help her, I don't even know her!

Also, trying going to wedding forums, like www.weddingwire.com, and searching through the boards to collect ideas.  You guys are NOT going to agree on everything, so compromise.  Define roles for both of you that you can live with.  "I choose the colors, decorations, music, and wedding attire, and you take care of the location and food.  You can both have some veto power on something you absolutely hate, but the details are up to the person in charge.

Oh, and as for seafood... there are a lot of people who don't like anything slightly fishy, so if that was ALL that was offered, a lot of people would go hungry.  A variety doesn't hurt.

  2. I would pick a few colors that complement each other and then ask him to pick out of the samples.......

    Pink and brown

    Pink and sage green

    Pink and teal

    Pink and navy blue

As far as everyone saying the day is the brides day well that is just how it has always been and always will be.  As an adult he just needs to get over that.

Food............have you considered a croissant bar.  This way you could have a variety of things to add to the croissant.  For example, ham salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, beef salad, shrimp salad, etc.  Then have meat trays, cheese trays and all the fixings.  Croissants are nicer than plain old bread.  For side dishes you could have lots of wonderful salads; fruit salad, pasta salad, toss salad, etc.

Dessert bar would be great but remember that you will also have wedding cake and that too can serve as the dessert.

Keep things simple and remember you don't have to spend a lot to make things nice.

  3. incorporate both of your favorite colors.

tell him that if he wants he is more than willing of helping with the wedding but if he doesnt put ne ideas out then how are you suppose to move along with the plans.

idk much about the food but what if you do seafood and chicken fettucini, so you have both.

desert can be anything..mmm white chocolate strawberries.

    be creative :)

  4. Sounds like quite the dilemma! Good news though. I work in a flower shop and its a problem a lot of couples go through. I've got some suggestions that might make your wedding a little more fiance-friendly.

First off, you sound like you really like sparkles and bright things, which is awesome! But, seeing that your hubby to be doesn't like those elements as much, compromise. If you like high-end, elegant flowers such as orchids, use them in your wedding! But, rather than using bright tones such as hot pink and the like, use colors that you both can agree on, like a pretty teal or a deep rose hue or maybe even a gold color. Or, have him pick the flowers, but you pick the colors to match. Also, if he wants your wedding to be about both the bride AND the groom, you could order a bride's cake and a groom's cake! This is a growing trend among couples. They don't have to be as big as traditional wedding cakes, and he could have his decorated any way he likes and you could have yours done up in your own fashion. Also, if you just can't compromise on what flowers or colors to use, have your bridesmaids' bouquets done up in one set of colors, and then have the boutonnieres done in his own flower choices. Good luck!

  5. maybe pick bright colours that are not so feminine... like baby blue and silver, or red and gold.....???

i suggest you look online at yahoo images and type in wedding party and stuff like that and look at bridemaid dresses and then find a color you both like...

or maybe look at davids bridal at all their bridesmaid dress colors....
