Question:

Having trouble with my hard drive?

i have a 6.4gb ide internal hard drive which has windows 2000 pro and windows xp installed on it, my problem i i have another hard drive which is a 160gb sata hard drive which cannot be pluuged in inside my computer because i do not have sata cables... i have however a sata usb adaptor which connects the drive fine and its works properly but when my computer is on in "my computer" the hard drive is not visible, it is in device manager and the drivers are installed but the device does not actually appear in my computer.... any suggestions ? thanks =]

  1. Have you formatted it? If not right click on my computer and click manage. Then go to disk management and format it. (don't do this if you have data on it though)


  2. It seems that the computer does not recognize the other hardrive. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you have 2 OS installed on your computer. Maybe the hardrive only appears if you run one of the 2 OSs you have installed.

  3. you might need to install a driver since the motherboard of your computer does not support SATA HDD. so i suggest try and see if the HDD came with a driver or some thing.
