Question:

Having wild rescued bird tagged?

I rescued a bird that fell out of it's nest about 2 weeks ago...this bird now thinks this is it's "home" anyways, I live in eastern NC and I was wondering if anyone knows who I could contact to having this bird tagged after "trying" to release it back into the wild. the bird we named "peepers" loves to fly around outside and leave the house but then comes back and follows me everywhere I go lol. I have never raised a wild bird before until now and let me tell you it's very rewarding to nurse a wild bird from having hardly any feathers to becoming a very healthy full grown bird.

  1. Some wild birds are protected by some State and Federal laws so if you are caught with that bird you could get a fine.

The best thing to do is to contact your local Vet and see if they have a list of Licensed wildlife care givers since they are trained to care, feed, wean and release the bird back into the wild.

As for tagging it that will be up to the DNR or whoever is licensed to care for Wild birds as to any type of tagging and relocating
