Havre De Grace made a promising comeback in the New Orleans Ladies Stakes on 17th March, 2012

Havre De Grace, America’s reigning Horse Of The Year made a great comeback in the New Orleans Ladies Stakes, which was her first race of 2012 on 17th March, 2012.
She entered the race with odds of 1-20 and comfortably defeated the rest of the competitors.
After racing in third, she gained composure and took over at the top of the stretch, leaving second place winner, Juanita 4 ½ lengths behind.
The five-year-old mare is owned by Rick Porter of Fox Hill Farms, who stated:
"I feel comfortable she can run against the boys anytime we need to. I'd just like to get her through the year healthy more than anything and running the way she did today we'll win plenty of races. And best of all would be to be back here next year as a
six-year-old."
She bagged the title of Horse of the Year 2011 because of her five victories last year, three of which came were Grade 1 races.
The daughter of Saint Liam, out of Easter Bunnette, is trained by Larry Jones, who is proud of the mare and her form.
Her connections were particularly pleased with her performance in the Grade 1 Beldame Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park on 1st October, 2011.
Her victory delighted the punters as she was raced as a favourite with odds of 9 to 20.
Paired with jockey R. A. Dominguez, she defeated Royal Delta by an immense margin of 8 ¼ lengths.
Her victory at Saratoga was just as impressive as she defeated all the male competitors.
She competed as a favourite with odds of 9 to 4 and emerged victorious in the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes, on 3rd September, 2011, where she defeated Flat Out by 1 ¼ length.
She is all set to compete in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn on 13th April 2012 where she will defend her previous victory.
She triumphed in this race (The Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap) at Oaklawn Park on 16th April, 2011, where she defeated Switch by ¾ of a length.
