Havre de Grace back to taking down filly business after taking care of the males, she prepares for the Beldame working five furlongs at Delaware
After she got males out of the way in the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga, which is safe to say she won without any major fuss, the 4-year-old filly, Havre de Grace, is preparing herself to take on her rivals in the Grade 1, $350,000 Beldame Invitational
at Belmont Park on 1 October, 2011.
At her home base, Havre de Grace turned in a slow work of five furlongs in 1 minute and 1.80 seconds on 19 September, 2011, at Delaware Park.
When asked why Havre de Grace went so slow, trainer Larry Jones joked saying “We just threw an anchor out behind her”, It was routine work and nothing to worry about, that is how her connections wanted her to go about the work tab.
The Grade 1 Beldame Invitational lineup looks like this for now, Todd Pletcher is looking to bag this one by sending two females Life at Ten and Super Espresso.
Life at Ten is a probable, but on the other hand Super Espresso is aiming to run in the Beldame Invitational.
If Jerry Hollendorfer can make up his mind about his star filly Blind Luck, then we are in for a really interesting race. Blind Luck is a possible for the Belmont Park 1 October feature race.
Royal Delta and Payton d’Oro will represent trainer Larry Jones, who is really up for it, with her start filly Havre de Grace accompanying her stable mates.
Royal Delta may well be scratched out of the lineup, Jones will decide on Payton d’Oro, depending upon who else is going for the race. Payton d’Oro earlier this year at Belmont Park rolled in second in the Ogden Phipps, and in her last start in the Molly
Pitcher at Monmouth Park she also finished second.
Trainer S. Hobby will send out Tiz Miz Sue in the mix and hope for the best while trainer G. Butler will throw in Pachattack to complete the lineup, which looks like this, 10 days from the race.
Coming back to Havre de Grace, the Saint Liam filly will have another breeze next week before the Beldame Invitational.
