Havre de Grace’s highly anticipated 2012 debut will be in the New Orleans Ladies Stakes
Havre de Grace has been creating excitement among the world of horse-racing, as she prepares for the $100,000 New Orleans Ladies Stakes to be held on March 17, 2012, at Fair Grounds. Being named Horse of the Year 2011, she is in good shape.
Havre de Grace is daughter of Saint Liam, out of Easter Bunnette by Crasity City.
The 5-year old mare has had many winning streaks.
Havre de Grace secured the first position at Saratoga in the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes against males on September 3, 2011. She competed against 7 racers, beating Flat Out after a pulsating contest.
After a slow start, she eventually found room, and got shaken up as early as entering the backstretch. She viciously duelled with, Rule, who was the pacesetter, and zoomed past him. Rule secured third position in the race, and successfully completed
the race in a time of 1 minute and 49.18 seconds.
She maintained her winning streak as she secured first position again in the Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park, held on October 1, 2011, where she competed against four fillies.
She defeated Royal Delta, speeding past her after the eighth pole into the stretch, where she crossed the finish line with massive encouragement from the crowds.
She completed the race in 1 minute and 49.39 seconds. Satan’s Quick Chick, Banker’s Buy and Life At Ten came in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Havre de Grace’s fan base is getting larger as her performances are becoming memorable with every race.
She won the Eclipse Award as the champion older female. Her rider, Ramon Dominguez, was also awarded the nation’s champion jockey for two consecutive years.
Havre de Grace has proved her strength, and capability on many different occasions.
Her strength can be demonstrated by the fact that she won five out seven races in 2011. These victories include the Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap, the Woodward and the Beldame Stakes.
For the New Orleans Ladies Stakes, Havre de Grace has been going through constant training, work-outs and exercises.
With her previous stellar performances and remarkable form, Havre de Grace is a favourite for the New Orleans Ladies Stakes.
She has created a sense of enthusiasm among her followers. The odds are stacking in her favour and her breeder, Nancy Dillman also has high hopes for her.
Havre de Grace’s trainer, Larry Jones, is also pleased with her performance and form.
“She’s getting pretty sharp now. I let her stretch her legs for about an eighth of a mile the other day just to tease her a little bit, so I think she’s coming right along for us.”
He is optimistic and hoping that his training will bring her more victories and success.
