It depends, of course, on where you are, and if you are qualified.  You should apply at the nearest foreign mission of Italy which has visa services.  The visa will be a Schengen visa, generally good for all countries within the Schengen Zone.  You might also consider applying at another Schengen Zone country's embassy, again, if you meet the criteria.
