Hawaafez blossoms for her connections in the JLT Aston Park Stakes at Newbury
The Hamdan Al Maktoum owned, Hawaafez, was led to a massive victory in the JLT Aston Park Stakes (Listed Race) in the capable hands of rider, Kieran O'Neill.
The 1 mile, 5 furlong and 61 yard long race was taken comfortably by the four-year-old filly on 19th May, 2012, at Newbury.
The bay filly, who was sent at 3 to 1 is under the training of Marcus Tregoning.
She came out on top as she defeated, Meganisi, by 4 lengths, whereas Nehaam, also owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, stood third, a short-head behind the runner-up.
Ibicenco, the German recruit, who is trained by Luca Cumani, raced as a favourite with a chance of 9 to 5, but never made any headway and finished fourth.
The fifth and sixth positions were secured by the Andrew Balding trained, Dreamspeed, and Junoob, respectively.
This was the second consecutive victory for the daughter of Nayef, out of mare Merayaat, who notched a victory at Newmarket on 28th October, 2011.
Under jockey, Richard Hills, she triumphed over, Moment Of Time, by 7 large lengths in the E B F "Archipenko" Fillies' Handicap, where she raced as a favourite with a winning chance of 7 to 2.
Regarding the aforementioned race, Marcus Tregoning stated that:
"She ended off on a good note and she's in decent form. It's a hike up in grade so we don't know if she's going to be good enough, but she certainly goes there fit and well."
The winning training expressed his delight after the race in these words:
"She's a nice mare and we're very lucky to keep her this year. She's needed the time to get the strength and Sheikh Hamdan owns a lot of huge horses - they just need a bit of time.
With this success, her future looks bright as she might go to the Royal Ascot as Tregoning added:
"She's in the Ascot Gold Cup, but I don't know if they will let me go that route, but she's a pretty decent filly and goes on any ground."
This was the third victory for the young runner among many more to come.
