  1. I haven't ever looked in to bringing an animal with me to Hawaii. But if I recall correctly I think I read that they changed the law to allow you to quarantine your pets here first, before going, and then they don't have to be quarantined there.

Doing it that way you should be able to see the conditions here and not depend on the Hawaii station.

But Hawaii has been doing it a very long time and I have never heard of complaints.

    Good Luck.

  2. I have not been to the quarantine station on O'ahu.  I have talked in depth to the people that work there and, for people who get the same questions day in and day out, they are super nice on the phone.

My dog was wheeled out of the quarantine station (in her crate) at HON shortly after we flew in.  Pets are no longer  automatically quarantined when they arrive in Hawai'i.  If their owners follow the guidelines, pets can go home with them within hours after flying into HON.

Perhaps you could be more specific in the conditions you have heard about?  Are you referring to the HAQS in general, Hawai'i's restrictions, or ???

  3. Kind of familiar with this - I think they have to be quarantined for 30 days.  I do not think it is inhumane because they are just protecting other animals on the island as well as their human population for aggressive or rabid animals.
