  1. I really, really, wish that people would not get Waikiki confused with all of Oahu. Waikiki it the 'tourist trap' I live, go to school and work on Oahu. And I can go for days without seeing a tourist. Where I live there are no tourists.

The Japanese don't own Oahu. Yes, there are a lot of Japanese on Oahu and thet do own a lot of property,The Native Hawaiians are still here.

  2. Where do you people get these ideas???  Neither the state of Hawaii nor the island of Oahu is not predominantly owned by Japanese.  Put that idea to rest.

  3. On the Big Island, Hamakua Bay has a native settlement. I spoke with a few when I was there. Sadly enough, Hawai'i is being decimated at an alarming rate.

  4. O'ahu is predominantly populated by of Japanese descendants at of all the islands. There are a lot of businesses owned by Japanese corporations. Although the white men still own the most of Hawai'i, as when they first somewhat deceived the native Hawai'ians about ownerships of land, like what they did in the mainland with the Native American Indians. Unfortunately there are only 9 % Native Hawaiians, and less than a thousand full 75% to 100% blooded Native Hawaiians in all Hawai'i left - due to mixture of other ethnicities, and the domination of the US since they stole the land (there, I said it - "stole"). Not that mixture is a bad thing.

Japan is more and more owning USA by buying land and bringing their corporation. So, in hindsight, your statement is somewhat true - in a sense of ownerships of land, properties, and corporations. Japan worked so hard to attain wealth and international economical domination, that it would or had surpassed White America's domination. Being also America keeps getting into deeper in debts - the Iraq/Bush war is just making it worst - that maybe one day Japan will owe America in the future.
