Hawaii men’s volleyball team set to meet on Sunday – Volleyball news
The men’s volleyball team of University of Hawaii is set meet at the second Annual A'o a Koa Scholarship Dinner on Sunday, January 8, 2012.
The Honolulu Country Club will provide the backdrop for this annual gathering. It will be a great chance to catch the Head Coach of Warriors’ volleyball program, Charlie Wade. Furthermore, the players and other team-staff will also be present at the dinner.
The fans are encouraged to get the invites for the dinner. It is a ‘do not miss’ opportunity to meet up front and personally with the Warriors. In addition to regular team staff, the former UH All-Americans Maulia La Barre and Vernon Podlewski will also
show up at the dinner. Maulia is beginning his first year as a volunteer coach with UH Volleyball Programme this year, while Podlewski has returned for his second year and first as a full-time coach.
Likewise, Jeff Hall, who has returned for his second year and first as an associate coach, will attend the get together. Several former Warrior stars will also be on hand to socialise and sign autographs for fans. Overall, the event is likely to be a great
fun-filled activity on the weekend.
The sole purpose of the event is to raise funds for Warriors’ volleyball programme. This is an annual event, which is organised almost every year. In the last edition of the inaugural event, some $30,000 funds were collected. The raised money through this
event is used to defray costs associated with the University of Hawaii Warrior Volleyball Youth Summer Camps. It greatly helps the local aspiring athletes to attend these summer camps at no cost.
This year, the earning will also be used to help fund summer school scholarships for students, who are currently registered with the UH volleyball. Summer school is a great off-season activity that helps the student athletes to keep on track with their academics
while continuing their off-season workouts as a team.
The arrangements have already been set up and tomorrow the Warriors will be together at the dinner table.
