  1. I agree 100% with April, who answered before me.

But putting the sarcasm aside, do you know much about Hawaii and its people? I live in Hawaii and there are not many pure Hawaiians left. The vast majority of people here are of mixed race -- Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, Hawaiian...and on and on. Have you heard of 'ohana? It means "family" and it is taken very seriously here in Hawaii. Lots and lots of people here are raised by their hanai families -- 'hanai' basically meaning 'adoptive.' Not in the traditional sense of adoption, but as in grandparents, aunties, uncles, and close family friends raising children. The culture here in Hawaii focuses on family and children and very, very rarely are children here relinquished for adoption. Family takes care of family, so if the biological parents are unable to take care of the child for some reason, the hanai family takes over.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of kids in foster care here in Hawaii as there are all over the U.S. If you are truly serious about adopting in Hawaii, please look into foster to adopt.

  2. I'm sure you can just put an order in, like one would ordering out food, go pick it up, and if it doesn't meet your expectations of genetic disposition and gender, you can return it for your full money back.

Do little Hawaiian girls come complete with the hula dress or is that extra?

*sigh* Kids are not made-to-order and adoption is a process that comes out of a tragic situation of seperating mother from child, child from family and culture.

  3. I absolutely agree with both posts!!!

I would like to add for anyone who is interested in an adoption in Hawaii they should look to Heart Gallery Hawaii. The director, David Lewis, is a close personal friend of mine.
