Hawaiian house party?

Just exactly what is a Hawaiian house party, and what should guests wear, and bring?

Just exactly what it says - you will decorate your house with hawaiian themed articles, grass skirts attached to the tables, candles, palm trees, leis for each guest.

Pulled pork sandwiches would be an excellent menu choice for you the host.  I would tell anyone who asks for an idea of what to bring - that it should go with the pork -

Fish and shrimp dishes are good too.

Guest should wear hawaiian shirts - you know the big flowered ones.  

Lots of bright colors - candles, lanterns -

If you have a pool or it's going to be outdoors -

floating candles look gorgeous at night.

Just look at pictures of hawaii and you'll immediately get ideas for decorations.

A great theme - the women can wear sarongs, have a great time - don't forget to have some hawaiian music playing for dinner.

If your serving alcohol - don't forget the pineapple - and the little umbrellas for your drinks.  Pina Coladas by the pitcher would be wonderful welcome as guests arrive.

A party name can be interprated anyway you like, that's the beauty of them. However, if you want to know specifically what it means. I would assume it simply means that they are hosting a house warming in the theme of Hawaii.

If you google it you get tonnes of results!! One person suggested pinacoladas, teaching the guests how to hula dance, and dance about a fire!!

"cut a pineapple in half and hollow out the bottom and put yougurt in it then cut fresh fruit and set it around the base of the pineapple this will be tropical and a tricky way to prevent everyone from having hangovers the next day, i'm 22 we did this for one of our partys and suprisingly everyone loved it. also pina coladas with 151 floaters are always awesome. dont forget little umbrellas in the drinks and tequila, just because people love taking shots of tequila at partys, if its gonna be really big i would advise you to get a keg too just because alot of people will drink that b.c its easier than mixing drinks.. have fun... oh and "lei" everyone when they get there with those little flower neclaces ;)"

you could also have "the tacky tourist awards" Where you award someone who is wearing a terribly bright hawiian shirt that definately does not suit them

Obviously you would have to have the limbo, and sand and those teeki lights outside of the house as well as a small bonfire.

I think it would be nice for guests to bring along a plate of food and a sense of humour... thats always important :P

They should dress in anything that they could see themselves wearing in Hawaii. That includes "the tourist look" and those grass skirts and coconut bras with big flowers in the hair.
