Hawaiian theme?

i just want to know why most peoples idea of a hawaiian themed party is wearing grass skirts, coconut bras, and bright colored flowered shirts...eating pineapple pizza and drinking pina coladas out of tiki(not even hawaiian) cups..listening to beach boy music..and whats with all the pineapples?? i know its all for fun and games but if its a hawaiian themed party shouldnt the things in it alteast be truly hawaiian because some of those things are culturally disrespectful.

Yes, just dress as though you're going to Hawaii! Put the flowery necklace around your neck. Lots of Pine Apples. Tropical Punch. Just lots of fruits & Flowers, sing, dance, love!

Never been to Hawaii but dated a guy from there.

Grass skirts, bright flowered shirts, pineapples, spam, roast pig, beautiful  beaches and sunsets, laid back easy going friendly people is how he discribed Hawaii.

Have you ever been to Hawaii? .... There are pineapples EVERYWHERE and served with everything!   Most people also attend a luau when they go to Hawaii, and that's where you see the grass skirts, tiki torches.  Everyone DOES wear flowered Hawaiian shirts in Hawaii too.....  Beach Boys music is about California, so I'm not sure why you'd think that was Hawaiian - Don Ho is Hawaiian music:)   .....  I must say, though, that in the 15-20 times that I've been to Hawaii (my husband was born there), I've never had pineapple pizza or spam - just the most incredible sushi I've ever had!
