Hawkeyethenoo: A would-be victor of Betfred Sprint Cup
The Jim Goldie trained bay gelding Hawkeyethenoo’s victory in the Blue Square Bet Stewards' Cup (Heritage Handicap) was such an astonishing and epic as it has made him a favourite prospect for the upcoming event of the Betfred Sprint Cup (British Champions
Series) (Group 1).
Wresting the title of the Stewards' Cup from 26 worthy rivals was not an easy task for a non-favourite horse but the six-year-old veteran runner done this marvellously. At the end of the race at Goodwood on August 4, almost all the spectators were spell-bound.
The punters, who had staked their money on Waffle, were badly disappointed.
Prior to that tremendous triumph, the brilliant daughter of Hawk Wing out of Stardance had triggered another upset at Ascot. On May 7, 2011, the maverick sprinter stunned all by winning the Totesport Victoria Cup (Handicap) without the favourite tag. In
the 28-runner contest, Horseradish was the best-priced candidate who finished 5th.
These two nerve-rending upsets have proved that Hawkeyethenoo possesses immense talent and high-class capabilities. He has also made his fans realize that he can win any time anywhere.
Now, the Johnnie Delta Racing owned experienced horse is all ready to test his credentials at Haydock where 54 entries have been registered so far. The 6-furlong race is scheduled to be held at Haydock on September 8, 2012.
Goldie is administering every best possible training technique on his star pupil in a bid to prepare him to cope with the arduous challenge that is lying ahead.
As a whole, Hawkeyethenoo has won 8 of his total 34 starts so far. He started his career in July 2008, but he had to wait for at least a year to break his maiden.
On July 14, 2009, the gifted gelding bagged his first ever victory at Beverley by winning the TurfTV Apprentice Handicap.
In the early stage of his career, Hawkeyethenoo had been an underdog, but he picked up a lot of confidence and capabilities during the last couple of years. At the moment, he is carrying plenty of winning impetus that will be greatly helpful to him to thrive
at Haydock.
