Hawks 12 versus Faraway 10: US Open Polo Championship Player Ratings
It was a game that can be called a best polo show particularly from Hawks' players who rendered outstanding performances. The last round of clash of the United States Open Polo Championship was played between Hawks and Faraway at the International Polo Club
in Wellington.
The two teams succeeded to retain their previous track record, as Hawks captured the third game, while Faraway lost for the third time in the tournament.
Faraway, on the other hand, have had an incredibly upsetting tournament, with back-to-back humiliating defeats in the mega event. It was cracking polo, in which the two foursomes performed attacking game, particularly in the first three chukkas of play.
Hawks
Freddie Mannix: 7.5/10
He delivered man-of-the-match performance and was a soaring figure at the attacking position. He could not allow Faraway defensemen to the better of him on the field. Mannix made lengthy runs downwards and upwards and scored four goals in the triumph. He
demonstrated impressive ball handling particularly in the first half of play.
Mariano Aguerre: 8.0/10
The Argentinean polo pro was impervious yet again for Hawks and displayed excellent game in the six-chukka action. He was at his best form and lit the lamp four times against Faraway. In the second half action, when Faraway were trying to play their way
back into the match, Aguerre rendered once again superb performance and coordinated well with his team-mates. He not only created chances for Freddie Mannix, but also delivered on defence.
Julian Mannix: 5.5/10
Julian Mannix, the brother of Freddie Mannix, was a rock at the number three position and made plenty of crucial saves. He also served in the scoring and made two points for Hawks. However, he was not much impressive in the ball possession, missed the ball
on many occasions and gave opponent chances to score goals. Apart from his missing shots, he supported his co-players brilliantly and showed wonderful passing.
Mariano Gonzalez: 6.0/10
He enjoyed his game as he was linked up with his main strikers to a great impact. He fought hardly against Faraway players and seemed no scarcity of confidence in his game. He also scored twice in the winning game.
Faraway
Luis Escobar: 7.0/10
Escobar was yet again fantastic and fought impressively throughout the game. He really was up for this game and scored three goals to creep the score close and closer. His speed and ride was commendable, as he never stopped moving on any occasion in the
game. However, he could not compete with the pace of the Faraway's defenders.
Mike Azzaro: 7.5/10
What an amazing game! Who almost pushed the defence line of Hawks back and scored four times in the crucial contest. He was at full swing and his ball handling along with his movement was faultless. He showed his typical Argentinean artistry performance.
Lucas Monteverde: 6.0/10
He seemed fast and furious with his movement, but was sloppy with ball possession. Though he scored three goals, he was not good at defence and could not block hits from opposite side.
Hutton Goodman: 4.5/10
He failed to make an impact in the game and could not create many hurdles for Hawks' attackers. He was not impressive on defence or on strike.
