Hawkswood to dominate the DKIT Student Race Night Handicap at Dundalk on 18th April
The DKIT Student Race Night Handicap will be held at Dundalk over a mile, two furlongs and 150 yards on Wednesday, 18th April. Participating in the event that carries a purse of €4,830 is a line-up of thirteen runners. All the candidates are fairly
accustomed to racing at Dundalk.
Hawkswood, Choisir’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Victoria Peek, posted a victory at Dundalk through the second outing of the 2012 season.
The four-year-old won the Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap on 11th April over a mile and four furlongs. He won by a very narrow margin of a head from the barging in, Indian Scout, who finally settled as the runner up.
The winner was ridden by J. Smullen. Word For Word took up the third slot and Coach Bombay, the 5/2 favourite of the race, finished fifth on the line-up of fourteen.
This was the first time that Hawkswood raced at Dundalk.
He finished second last in his seasonal debut that came in the form of Tote Jackpot Handicap on 29th March at Limerick over seven furlongs. The race was won by the 7/2 favourite of the race, Bankroll.
Another entry who has been recently successful at Dundalk is Coach Bombay, Ad Valorem’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Molly-O. He won the

Riding with P. Hoban, Coach Bombay led the runner up of the race, Time Travel, by ¾ of a length.
The 2/1 favourite of the race, Peggarty, held on to the ninth position on the line-up of fourteen.
In the next race, Coach Bombay, the 5/2 favourite, ended fifth against Hawkswood in the Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap on 11th April.
The six-year-old bay gelding, Word For Word has been racing at Dundalk ever since the second start of the 2011 season and has remained unsuccessful to date.
Today will be his tenth start of the new season and it is high time that he brings his experience at Dundalk to use.
