  1. As my question below says saints played awesome football and Hawks just got caught out, they dont need anything look where they are on the ladder for @@ck sake like as a Seniors football player for Sale Football Club (scott pendlebury, jason gram and shane burss's drafted from team) we are on top of the WGFNL and we lost a few weeks ago to our arch rivals Maffra and oh know that made a 10 - 2 and yes still on top of the ladder, but NO the journalists came up with c**p like Sale has lost it they going of the rails what a disorginised club like FFS we ARE on top of the ladder and wow a bad game like ppl like you need to think more about these questions before you ask play footbal your whole life and you will understand football is not an easy game to win and you CANNOT win everygame....

  2. Hawthorn's position on the ladder indicates they have had a good season to date.   On the other hand St Kilda have long been considered a team with potential, but haven't produced.   In the second half the Saints over run the Hawks, with a determined brand of footy, which enabled them to win the clearances and score goals.  Its an even competition in many respects, and all clubs look for ways and means of exploiting the opposition.   You mention the Hawks discipline, and if thats a problem its unlikely they would be in the top 3 at this time.   Maybe the other 3 D's, DETERMINATION DESPERATION and DESIRE were put to better effect by the Saints in the second half, considering they were playing against a team above them on the ladder.    Next week Hawthorn will be in a similar position as the Saints, playing a team above them in Geelong, and how the Hawks handle all the challengers, will be the best indication of where they are at . The team that better applies the "success principles" in this game will win !

  3. There going pretty good still and i think they will still easily make top 4. Last night against saint kilda they just nodded off and stopped trying because they might have thought the game was in the bag. All credit to the saints though who are playing brilliant footy.

  4. I think that they are a contender for the top 4, but i'm not sure they have what it takes to get deep into the finals series. They have a lot of potential for the future with, I think, only Crawford in his 30's??

With that in mind they will be towards the top of the table in the next 5 or so years and will be a dominant team.

I just wanna say how disappointed i was in Osbourne. Had he taken that mark, I would've voted that for almost mark of the century and no doubt mark of the year!!

  5. I think they are travelling really well if you consider all rounds played so far in 2008. Next week is going to be the true test for them. I think they will finish top 4 and be real contenders to make the GF.

  6. Hawthorn are not serious contenders if they drop games like this, especially seeing how the Cats demolished the Bulldogs this round as well.

  7. hawthorn are really overrated

    stop franklin, stop hawthorn

given that, its the same with st.kilda and riewoldt

  8. Hawthorn are not Grand Final material.  Neither are Western Bulldogs.  Only in the top four, we will see a Geelong/Sydney Grand Final.  Hawthorn, the second pressure is put on them, choke.  As soon as Western Bulldogs are under pressure, they choke.

The only reason they will ever even MAKE the Grand Final is because of Franklin alone.

  9. **I think that Hawthorn just had an off night.  Next week will be the real test for them and if they can beat Geelong or at least give them a real good run for their money then they'll be serious top four material.

They can't be a one man team and just rely on Franklin though.  They need to put in a whole team performance.**

  10. they let it slip, but that doesnt mean they wont b real contenders 4 the flag, remember collingwood last yr lost 2 melbourne, richmond and carlton who were all in the bottom 3 and geelong lost 2 collingwood this yr but they'll still probs win the flag,so the hawks r still real contenders but need 2 b less budd consious and buddy needs 2 play smarter football by not atractin so much attention 2 himself eg.giving away stupid frees

  11. have a cry!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. What can Franklin do when the umps allow both he and Roughhead to be held as the ball comes in.  It is blatant.  Any side that has stopped Hawthorn's forwardline has done it.  I am not a hawks fan (Essendon, so peeved for many reasons!) but I thought the umpiring of tonights game was a disgrace.  Decisions that have been paid all year were let go.  Contact to the head especially.  Hawks were not good, but in my opinion St. Kilda were worse. The "miraculous" 3rd quarter comback was completely umpire manipulated.

  13. Well next week will be a big thing for them.

St Kilda are a really top notch hassling team.  What they lack in talent they make up for in commitment and ... well ... buzz.  That can throw the discipline (which is what the doggies did to the Cats in the first half today)

Next week the Hawks come up against a team that can do the hassle AND have talent.  So they'd better figure out how to deal with it.  I'm convinced after seeing him today that Harry Taylor should line up on Buddy and that will give the Hawks some real problems (freeing up Scarlo to go onto Butthead).

If they lose next week, they're three games off the pace.  They'll need to do a major re-think but most likely they'll be in a prelim final and then it's down to one game!

  14. (i am a hawks supporter so forgive me if i am biased)

i think hawks are doing really well this season

considering that a lot of the team is really young, 21 or 22 or even younger

evry team  will jsut have an off night every once in a while, i guess this was jsut one of ours

i think hawthorn is quite a disciplined side, but i guess they cood b more disciplined, so big stuff ups like last night dont happen again

i am hoping that hawks will improve and win some more big matches. the geelong game is going to be a good one.

i remember a few years ago hawks wer predicted to be the premiership side this year. and i must say, we arent that far off that! (obviously teams like geelong and bulldogs are better..)

    so yeah, thats my opinion
