Hayom Rumbaka outshines Vladimir Ivanov in 2013 Indonesia Open – Badminton news
Men’s Singles expert Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka played flawless badminton in the opening round of Djarum Indonesia Open and thrashed Vladimir Ivanov on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
This 50-minute tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Jakarta and both contenders entertained the crowd while piling up decisive figures of 17-21, 21-6 and 21-18. The Russian campaigner enjoyed an upper hand in first set of the match whereas the
Indonesian lad ruled the court in ending two games.
Vladimir raised his chances of success by prevailing in the establishing rallies of first set. He did not give his opponent enough time to get settled and confounded him with a flurry of well crafted strokes.
He made best out of this flow and placed a decent total in no time. This early lead helped him to keep the opposing shuttler at lower end till the half time. Vladimir did not lose focus at any stage and registered a respectable score of 11 on the board.
Although a few fatal mistakes weakened his grip in third quarter of the set, yet he managed to reclaim his status when it mattered. He finished this crucial game with 21-17 margin and moved to second set with a psychological edge.
However, Vladimir failed to capitalise his initial lead and surrendered tamely in the following games.
On the other hand, the Indonesian player showed a transformed character and tipped the scale in his favour. In second set of match, he started the beating from very first stroke and kept on playing with an authoritative approach until the last shot was played.
He maintained a significant advantage on points table and won this crucial game with an overwhelming total of 21-6.
This timely win boosted his confidence and Rumbaka prevailed in the decider as well. However, it was not an easy win this time as the Russian challenger put a great resistance. Both contenders remained close on the points table till the half time but then
the Indonesian player struck hard and locked the honour.
Rumbaka registered a winning margin of 21-18 and setup his next clash with Takuma Ueda of Japan.
