http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863 has gone on to reveal that he wanted the number 10 jersey at the Stamford bridge, simply because it was the number that Zinedine Zidane used to wear.
The former French international and Real Madrid superstar, used to support the number 10 jersey for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, and with Hazard idolising the player, he felt it would be the greatest honour to wear the same number.
However, the youngster failed to acquire that jersey number, simply because Juan Mata didn’t want to give it up.
As a result, Hazard had to go on and settle for the number 17 shirt at the club.
In the past, Zidane has also gone on to reveal his admiration for the attacking Belgian international, and he was quoted to have said that he "would sign Hazard with [my] eyes closed".
However, with Hazard choosing to go to Chelsea, the advisor at Madrid failed to help the Spaniard snap up the attacker.
When talking about his fondness of Zidane and how he is like a role model to him, Eden Hazard is reported to have said: "I've always liked the number 10, because it is one of Zidane. He was my role model, I've always wanted to play like him.”
"When he started talking about me, I didn't understand what was happening any more. But he must have said that about other players, so I knew I had to keep on working."
Despite this being Hazard’s first season at Chelsea, the player has already started to turn heads. His performances have been outstanding and he has managed to claim a spot in the lime light, in only three games for the club.
He is a constant threat whenever he is on the ball, and the fact that he likes to set his team mates up to score goals, instead of scoring them himself is also commendable.
Nonetheless, there is still a very long way to go for Hazard, in order for him to be considered at being in the same class as Hazard.
It is now a wait to see whether he can live up to those expectations or not.
