Hazy Tom making a good deal of appeal on chasing debut in Linden Homes Greens Norton Beginners´ Chase at Towcester
Charlie Longsdon’s 6-year-old, Hazy Tom, has plenty going for him on chasing debut, and is taken to beat My Brother Sylvest in the Linden Homes Greens Norton Beginners´ Chase, to be hosted by Towcester on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
Owned by Alan Halsall, the bay gelding showed a lot of goods last year. He clinched four consecutive wins at the start of his career, collecting a huge amount of admiration.
The son of Heron Island continued the good work this year, and ran a decent race in February 2012. He suffered the worst defeat of his career in March, when finishing 17th at Cheltenham. The pressure at the Grade 1 level got the better of him, and he failed to make an impression in the William Hill Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
Bred by Messrs T. & J. Hayes, the talented runner showed a lot of improvement on his last start, when grabbing the fifth place in a Listed race. The John Smith's Daily Mirror Punters Club Handicap Hurdle saw him making a wonderful effort at Aintree.
Hazy Tom has performed magnificently in Flat races. He does not like much moisture in the surface, and there is not any at Towcester. He is returning to action after almost six months, and looks quite fresh at the moment. He has run pretty decently at the higher levels, and knows how to tackle pressure.
Hazy Tom has so many things in favour that one can comfortably expect him to win today’s class 4 meeting. To make his chasing debut, the 6-year-old will step out on the track at 14:50 GMT. Including him, a dozen runners have entered the race in pursuit of a handsome prize worth £2,274.
The ground is very suitable for My Brother Sylvest. The David Pipe-trained is surely an interesting fellow, but it will be very tough for him to get the better of Hazy Tom.
Out of others, Thanks For Coming makes some appeal on his return from a long layoff, but only a calculated risk should be taken on him. We wish the best of luck to all the participants.
