Hazy Tom marginally preferred to Cantlow in Colliers Reduce Empty Business Rates Novices´ Chase at Warwick
Cantlow is far superior hurdler, but over a distance of two miles, the marginal preference is given to Hazy Tom in Colliers Reduce Empty Business Rates Novices´ Chase, taking place at Warwick on Wednesday, November 07, 2012.
The 6-year-old was more than impressive last year. He started his career with four consecutive victories. After so much success, the Charlie Longsdon-trained started losing his momentum.
He was awfully thrashed on the previous few occasions. On his latest start, the son of Heron Island ran pretty well, but could only secure the sixth position in the Linden Homes Greens Norton Beginners' Chase at Towcester.
Although things have not gone to the plan for him recently, one should not take him lightly. He has done well over this distance in the past, and should not disappoint the supporters in today’s battle.
His main goal will be to tackle Cantlow, who has slightly better record over hurdles. On his penultimate start, the 7-year-old did a wonderful job to share the podium. Even though wins are not coming to his way regularly, the Paul Webber-trained is doing
well on constant basis.
In May, he claimed the fifth place in the field of 18 at Haydock. Owned by John P. McManus, the son of Kayf Tara jumps really well, and will be a hard nut to crack even in the Chase. So, he is unlikely to leave things any easier for Hazy Tom.
The event revolves around these two. Including the pair, there are eight contestants in the pack. In pursuit of a handsome prize of £5,653, they will compete on Warwick’s soft surface.
Go On Arch showed minor promise early in the career. Basically, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained has lots to prove on chasing debut. Henry Hurst was 50-1 when falling mid-race on last week’s chasing debut. Jimmy Fox’s charge would be short of confidence
following the recent misery.
Shangani is a good hurdler, and has potential to become a better chaser. It will be interesting to see how he handles the situation. Zafranagar is a winning hurdler, but very lightly raced on the Flat this year. We feel the punters should stick only with
Hazy Tom and Cantlow.
