Hd dvd burn ?

i have a hp dvd1040 external burner an djust bought a hd dvd player for my lcd 1080p tv. I use slysoft any dvd hd and clone dvd www.slysoft.com to burn my regular non hd movies and when i try to even read the hd dvd my burner wont even reconize it. any 1 have any ideas?
