  1. You will need HD rated component cables or a HDMI cable to feed the high def signal to that TV.

Call Time Warner and ask if a component cable is included with the box. Sometimes it is, some times it is not.

If not - order a HDMI cable from www.bluejeanscables.com or www.monoprice.com

Monoprice is cheaper, but for $38, BlueJeans sells some very good cables.

I also agree - a DVR cable box is strongly recommended. We almost never watch live TV anymore. Everything we watch is scheduled to record so we watch it on our schedule, not the networks.

  2. If your new tv has a QAM tuner, you can pick up HD channels by just connecting the cable off the wall to your tv. Provided you subscribe to the digital package. For your old tv, getting HD is really pointless, you are not going to get any advantage unless the tv is HD ready. With the box you will be able to pick up a few more HD channels besides the basic networks. Plus you will have the DVR is you choose to, which I highly recomend.
