got my self a big lcd tv finaly, the question is my pc is hooked up to the lcd tv via standard dvi to vga cable, I have nvidia 7900 256mb which supports HD. now if I get an hdmi to dvi cable will that improve the picture quality? will a vga cable transfer HD video up to 1080i? because I am just thinking if I should buy a dvi to hdmi or there's no point.

I am an IT engineer myself but the techno is moving so fast it's hard to keep up nowadays.

  1. no point

  2. There is no difference between the picture quality of DVI to HDMI. The difference is HDMI carries all audio signals aswell unlike DVI but video quality won't differ.

I am not quite sure if a VGA cable transfers HD video up to 1080i but i wouldn't doubt if it did something like 480p which is still sharper then the standard 480i, i could be wrong though.

  3. no point at all
