  1. try to use the mini audio jack. It has one audio in (usually the cable that we hook up to the laptop in green) and will  be split into two output for red and white.

it will bring stereo audio to your TV.

maybe i wrongly named the jack, im sorry.

  2. With HDMI, audio and video are supported by the cable and both should be available at your TV.  If you get audio at both your TV and your laptop but want to kill it at your laptop, your best choice is to go to the $1 store, buy some headphones, and stick them into the headphone jack of your laptop.  That will kill the sound at your laptop but still let the HDMI carry it to your TV.

If for some reason you are not getting audio at your TV through your HDMI cable, you may have a problem with the audio setup of your TV, where you have accidentally chosen HDMI for video only.  If this is not the case, you just need a cable that is very popular with ipod users, that allows you to connect one end to your headphone jack and the other to a stereo.  In this case, instead of connecting to a stereo, connect to the TV.  Again, you must make sure that your audio menu is set up to accept audio from a "line in" source.
