  1. Most DVD players don't have an HDMI output. HDMI is usually used for satilite/HD/Blue-ray players (though some DVD players do have it, most do not). Get some decent component (the blue/green/red) cables for the DVD

And you don't have to buy a $150 HDMI cable, it won't make much of a difference if its $50 or $150.

  2. It sounds like your DVD player does not have a HDMI port. Couple of options, connect your DVD player to the TV using the the component cables, connect the DVD player to a Tuner that has HDMI outputs, purchase a newer DVD player that has a HDMI output. By the way I recently tested the most expensive HDMI cable I could find (monster) against some of the cheapest (Radio Shack & Office Max) $40.00 and I couldn't find any difference, needless to say I returned the monster cables. I'm sure there are folks out there who have a more discerning eye that myself but luckily I have cheap eyes. By the way Radio Shack sells a DVI to HDMI cable so check and see what other outputs you have from your player. Last thing whenever I'm trying to find an oddball cable I go to Cables Unlimited they manufacture many of the cables you find elsewhere, unfortunately they don't seem to sell to the public but they do offer links to resellers who carry their products. Good Luck.

  3. get component cables (blue, green, and red cables), they are the closest to the HDMi quality, older DVD players dont have a HDMI port, u mite want to get a blu ray player or get components...... and all HDMI cables have the same quality, if dont make much of a difference if it was more expensive
