Okay, this is what I've got: A sony vvega tv, ps3, a pioneer vsx-918V receiver.(which has two hdmi inputs and one hdmi output), cable box and computer. What I want to do is connect all my media hardware through my receiver and then my receiver to my tv. ie, my ps3 and computer would go in to my receiver through hdmi, my cable box would go through my receiver through component cables, and then my receiver goes out to my tv through hdmi. Is this all possible?

  1. Check to make sure that your receiver will output the component input through the HDMI output.  If so, this will work.  If not, you will need to connect the component output of the receiver to the a TV component input and switch the TV to that input when you want to watch TV from the cable box.

I just checked the manual for the Pioneer Receiver on-line, and found  this:

"The signals input from the analog

    (composite and component) video inputs

of this unit will not be output from the

    HDMI OUT."

You should decide which two sources will be switched most often, and use the HDMI connections for them, then use component for the remaining source.
