He's being very cruel to me! Help?

I've been together with this guy for about 2 months and I ended it awhile back because of a big incident... well after I ended it, we both decided that we'll just be good friends instead, but then like a few weeks later he started being very mean and cruel to me! He keeps saying how stupid I am then turns around and apologizes to me then he starts making jokes about me to other people! What do I tell him in order to make him stop doing what he's doing or what should I do?

by the way I have hard times getting rid of people, so how do i discuss this to him in order to make it easy for me?

Make your self seem more clever than he does. Try answering to his mean jokes when there are people around and do it in a very relaxed way. When you stay alone you can always tell him"Stop it, you are bothering me!" It would be easier if you tell it just after he insults you. You can always bring up things that he is doing wrong... As far as I can see he is feeling quite annoyed due to your split up and he thinks that this is the way to belittle you and bring you back. Just be DYNAMIC! Cut him off completely. Maybe he's upset that you guys didn't work out. Sometimes you just can't be friends with people that you were together with. Besides, it was only 2 months that should be easy to get past and not need to have any ties or friendships.

Sometimes you can't go back to being friends.  He's mad and resentful at the breakup.  Distance yourself from him for awhile.
