He broke up with me six months ago. Why would he ask me this?

I was talking to my ex today.

We broke up six months ago and started talking again about two weeks ago.

He asked me if I am truly over him or not, then said he asked me that "because he likes to ask random questions."

Is there a meaning behind him asking me that?

sounds like he's not over you, he just said that to get a feel if you wanna get back together with him

He isn't over you, and is trying to figure out if he has a chance at getting back together with you.

Depending on your answer, he's going to either try it again with you or attempt to fully get over you.

one of two ....1) he does wan to get back wit u...probably isnt over you.....and 2) if u werent that mite be ackward if you guys were "jus friends" id go wit the first cause a guy wouldnt bring it up inless it was really serving a purpose

He may be interested again, usually because after being apart he realizes that he misses you. That is the usual meaning, but if you do/dont like him just try to rebuild a friendship as a starting point.
