  1. Well, it wont be any good for him, but it wont kill him.

One of my friends took a huge swig of Calpol once and it made them high and stuff, but didn't kill them.

But, I'd expect him to have a big hangover in the morning :D

  2. they are used to get high.  I know of one guy that drank a whole bottle.  He survived, but you could die from taking so much of it.

  3. please take him to a hospital.

Overdosing on cough meds can affect the heart rhythm.

  4. Some places have huge problems with youth drinking cough syrup. It is dangerous to drink a lot, I don't know anything about amounts or effects though. I think there was a 20/20 or dateline special on it a few years ago.

  5. There are many cough mixtures on the market today. However one called Codeine linctus, Benylin,  if taken to excess could be dangerous. Overdosing on a codeine based medicine could be fatal! It is also be habit forming.

Overdosing on it can affect breathing, agitation/restlessness and cause drowsiness or loss of consciousness.

His symptoms following drinking that amount of cough mixture is worrying but not surprising.

I would speak to his parents as my guess would be that he may already have a drug addiction.
