He has no“class”?

Someone said“He(=Asasyouryu，sumo champion)has no class.”

“Class”here means special personal qualities to work as a sumo wrestler，

so I think he means Asasyouryu is arrogant.“

But Asasyouryu has “strongth”and“guts”as a sumo wrestler.

He shoud have said“he has no manners.”

His useage is right?

'Class' specifically refers to the caste system, or Class system that westerners often use to distinguish whomever they feel is better (usually based on breeding and money)

To say that 'one has no class' is to refer them to the lower classes, usually those with no special heritage, lack of money and in general no manners, dignity or style. It is an archaic term, but one that many use frequently without awareness to the origination.

no class would probably mean that he is not ranking as others in his class... in his level.

it could also mean that he has no ethics, or cares, or style.  as is how you carry yourself, and how others perceive you.

English is funny that way, it can mean either, I would have to hear the person saying it, and to be there, so I would know which context it would be.

Having class is about knowing how to win gracefully and how to lose gracefully. It is not about "being in your face" after you win and it is not about "tearing up the court" after you lose.

It is about being able to shake the other person's hand, win or lsoe, and tell them that they did a great fight.

That is what class is about in regards to sporting events.

"He has no class" - this phrase in English doesn't mean he is arrogant -it more closely means " He is not stylish or he is not elegant or educated in what he is doing".
