My friends son is only at school 1 and a half hours per day, and when he is there is just sleeps and the teachers let him. He suffers from epilepsy, and the tabs he is on affect him, making him rude very verbal but not voilent, one teacher was sick of him being rude to her and said that he kicked her, but other kids in the class said he never, the teacher was believed the kids were not (this does not surprise me), this boy wants to learn, his mum is a waste of space, she is an alcholic, and the school dont want him. What can be done to help him? I thought in the UK you had to recieve 20 hours minimum per week education either at school or otherwise. This boy needs help but no adults are helping this 13 year old boy.

  1. I agree that you should contact your local Childrens Services department.  You can ring up and make an anonymous referral for him to be assessed.  You may find that the process is quite slow but at least you will have tried.  Childrens Services tend to have registers now of all issues raised regarding individual children.  So if anyone else has reported the boy's situation, this should be highlighted on the system and cause quicker action by social services and education.

It may well be that this boy is already on their radar due to his health and educational issues and his mother's inability to care for him properly.  Your raising the issue will help to raise his case.

  2. You should express this to the Social Services and act as an advocate for the child.

  3. What are you going to teach the unteachable?... I don't buy the line that he wants to learn because his actions show something different.

Before the UK opened the doors to the mental institutions, these people were kept safely locked away where normal people didn't have to look at them... now... the streets are full of nut cases.

  4. two words for ya... child services or the equivilant in the uk

  5. Social work services.

If you get in touch with their Child Protection services they should be able to sort out the education.

You're right about the education... is it an offence to deny a child education and equally neglect if the system does not provide the education that meets this boys needs.

    Hope this helps...

  6. Department of Children and Families

Sorry, I don't know if there is anything like this in the UK.

  7. call social services

  8. SENCO need to be informed of this, weather or not the child did or did not kick the teacher, surely she is trained to deal with his special need. Have you gone over the schools head?. Every person working with special needs children need special needs training. This teacher/school are not dealing with this appropriately.

  9. I think what the post above me said was absolutely disgusting, this child cannot help it if he is epileptic and he needs support from the relevant authorities who are currently failing him. You might have to contact social services if his mother is an alcoholic, he may at risk of suffering emotional harm. I hope it works out for him.

I was referring to johnathanapples btw
