He was tipsy... but how likely is it, that he meant it?

Question

Basically, I have a best guy friend, we are both 18. in the past few months we've really got on. we tease constantly, playfight, hug etc.

He now talks to me constantly on msn, he's started inviting me over more than he used to, he makes a deliberate effort to stand between me and the traffic when walking down the road, he told me to promise him i'd take care in my new car, stuff like that.

Anyway- The last two times we slept at a friends house together, on both occasions, as soon as the lights have gone out, he's rolled over to face me and waited for a reaction- as soon as I moved to face him, he's grabbed my hand and held it all night and slept with our faces next to each other, cuddling etc. it normally takes quite a bit for him to open up.

Then last night on msn, at 3am he came online saying he'd been out drinking, he said he was a bit drunk, but I could see he could still type pretty normally, no mistakes and normal speed.

We spoke for an hour or so, then as we were saying goodbye, he came out with "wish you were here, its always so much better sleep when ur here"

What does this mean? Was this down to the alcohol, even though he was typing fine, engaging in normal conversation etc? What does it show, how does he feel about me, he was obviously thinking about the previous situations etc.... any insight here would be helpful please!

Looks like you have a close relationship with this friend.

I think it could possibly be true as a drunk body makes a sober mind, because your more likely to tell someone how you really feel if your abit tipsy. But you need to ask them.

Your both grown up here, just meet up with him and chat and talk about what he said. I'm sure you can sort it out ..

i tell you this he sounds like a really really nice chap, he has respect for you how lovely that he held your hand all night like that.

I think he genuinly cares about you, i darent say he loves you but he sounds pretty serious to me.

I think he may be a bit shy, and not too sure if he tells u how he feels how you will react, I ve always said you get the truth out of someone whose drunk and i dont think it was just down to the alcohol. if you like him grab him he sounds like a good un good luck.

What the alcohol is doing is allowing him to lose some of his inhibitions and try to tell you how he feels about you.

All these things going on and you don't think the guy likes you?  You needed him to say something on MSN when he was drunk to figure that out?  

You should have known something as soon as he grabbed your hand at your friend's, dear.  

Anyhow, yes:  He likes you.  He would like to be more than just a "best guy friend."  And I think you like him.  So ... go for it!
