Head Iton Ellis stars in Sussex Cup semi-finals
Head Iton Ellis gave bettor.com readers a night to remember as he coasted to victory in the second semi-final of the Sussex Cup at Hove on Thursday evening. The nap selection broke smartly from the traps, grabbed the lead at the first bend and powered home to score by two engths over Bower Eagle in a time of 29.60secs.
Joining them in the final will be Deanridge Rag, who clocked the fastest time of the night in the first semi-final. Dean Childs’s charge flew out of the lids and held off a late challenge from Hallucination, who passed favourite Borna Rocker with an eye-catching late run, to score by two-and-a-half lengths in 29.49sec.
Carly Philpott’s Ballymac William (also tipped up by bettor.com) continued his hundred per cent record at Hove with a workmanlike performance in the third semi-final. William looked in trouble as the chasing pack closed on him approaching the third bend, but he dug deep in the final strides to see off the challenge of Spinkys Nod by a half-length.
