Head Iton Jason to find the net at Sheffield
They say never let your heart rule your head.
Well adhering to those wise words tonight could prove profitable as the successful, and fantastically named, Head Iton syndicate look to have a good chance to land the Molson Coors 3 Steps To Victory Trophy Final tonight at Sheffield with Head Iton Jason.
The lively connections have already tasted Category One success this season with Head Iton Ellis, who landed the Sussex Cup at Hove, and will be looking to secure a big-race double this evening.
In a race which provides many doubts surrounding the stamina of the market leaders, the selection may be the safest route to follow at a working-man’s price as he is bred to get the 660m trip and has proven form over longer distances. The draw has worked out in Head Iton Jason’s favour also – coming out from trap five he should be able to get a clear run to first bend with the slow-starting Farloe Rocket outside, and Wilfy Wells liable to move wide in the black and white jacket.
Favourite Crown Rover has bags of ability but may just find the marathon trip just too lung-sapping and Droopys Arshavin is probably one of the most unreliable trappers in racing currently and can’t be trusted in a race of this magnitude.
The rest of the card, which is being shown live on Sky Sports 3 this evening, looks like a bit of a punting minefield, but there are a couple of runners who were knocked out at various stages of the 3 Steps To Victory Trophy that may bounce back to form tonight.
The first is Bower Hawk in the Napoleons Casino Leeds Stakes who was well fancied for outright honours in the 3 Steps in the early stages of the competition but lost his way behind Crown Rover in the heats. He has recently bounced back from that defeat with an improved performance in a trial race, and despite not being able to grab the early lead tonight, can run on late to land the spoils.
Moveit Jamie is another greyhound who has failed to live up to his impressive CV, but his trainer Barry Draper looks to have found a race, The Frooly Trophy, where he should have too much early dash for his rivals.
After smashing the track record at Yarmouth last week, it’s hard to oppose Centurion Enry in the Frooly Stakes. England Expects is the obvious danger but has failed to repeat the form he showed when winning the Sunderland Grand Prix.
