Head coach Bill Belichick praises New England Patriots shutout of Miami Dolphins
The New England Patriots ended the 2012 regular season on a high note with a thumping 28-0 victory in the final game against Miami Dolphins.
New England’s defence has come in for huge criticism during the season for giving up big plays but there was nothing to complain about in the final game as the defence successfully shutout a good Miami Dolphins side.
It seems quarterback Tom Brady’s anger that was hurled at teammates at the end of the 23-16 win over Jacksonville Jaguars did some wonders with the entire team coming together to make big plays and ensure a great end to what has been a topsy turvy season
for the Patriots.
Ending with 12-4 record, the Patriots can now look forward to another playoff campaign as they look to bring home the holy grail of four Super Bowl rings to the Gillette Stadium.
Head coach Bill Belichick on December 31st conducted a conference call with the press and seemed relaxed while answering questions.
Talking to the assembled press pack, Belichick said that the team will go through the tapes from the game against Dolphins while they are also starting to analyse their potential playoff opponents.
He also lavished praise on the team’s performance during the final game and said:
“As I said yesterday, I thought the players did a good job yesterday given the situation, the conditions and all that. Miami is a good football team that’s been playing well lately, but we were just able to go out there and make a few more plays than they
did yesterday and play for a good 60 minutes.”
Adding further he said:
“[It was] a good, solid game in all three phases and that’s what we needed to do. We helped ourselves and the other things that happened helped us. That was good, but most importantly, we went out and helped ourselves. That's really what we needed to do.”
New England remain one of the favourites to lift the Super Bowl this year but it will be tough for the team as they look to overcome last year’s disappointment when the team failed at the final hurdle.
Playoffs are once again shaping up into mouth watering contests and it will be no surprise to see New England once again reach the Super Bowl.
