Head coach Jim Harbaugh impressed with San Francisco 49ers’ victory over Green Bay Packers – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is impressed with his team’s positive start to the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season as they defeated Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Both 49ers and Packers are considered Super Bowl contenders this season and it was expected that the game would be a tough one. However, to defeat the Packers on their home field is a feat which many competitive teams are unable to achieve and the 49ers
deserve credit for the win.
The win also ended 49ers’ eight-game losing streak against Packers, who have a very powerful offence. Packers have an outstanding quarterback in Aaron Rodgers who is accurate as well as quick. He can pass the ball as well and rush when needed.
Harbaugh returned home after the win and acknowledged that Packers are a great team. Appreciating his players for beating the Packers, Harbaugh said:
“What you hope to do is not give up the big, big play in the run game or the pass, which I thought our team did an outstanding job of not giving them. And then eventually, you get them shut on a series of downs and you get the ball back. But I thought pursuit
was the key. Nobody staying on the ground, nobody staying blocked. Getting off blocks, pursuing like the dickens.”
As far as the regular season is concerned, Packers were the best team in the 2011 season and 49ers were next to the then defending champions.
As the 2012 season progresses, it is certain that both teams are going provide tough challenges to other teams in the league.
49ers are now going to face Detroit Lions in Week 2 game as they host their first game of the season. Lions are pretty aggressive and 49ers need to prepare well to overpower the visitors.
The head coach is impressed with his players, who, he says, works very hard on the practice field to prepare for any game and hopes the players continues to do so. Harbaugh said of his players:
“That’s something that the way we work, the way we prepare, that’s one of the best things that we have going for us.”
