Head coach Tan Kim Her confident to fulfil expectations of Badminton Association of Malaysia
Malaysia’s newly appointed head coach for Men’s Doubles, Tan Kim Her is confident to perform all of his duties with utmost responsibility and live up to the expectations of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
Kim Her was the in-charge of back-up shuttlers and got a wonderful promotion by BAM, as the governing body of badminton elevated him to the position of Men’s Doubles head coach because of his untiring services to the country. He is ready to perform his duties
to the maximum of his abilities and make shuttlers more confident and competitive for the 2012 London Olympics.
The coach took the first decision as head coach for Men’s Doubles yesterday, when he formed the new pair of Hoon Thien How and Tan Wee Kiong. Other prominent Men’s Doubles pairs under his charge are Tan Boon Heong – Koo Kien Keat, Mohd Lutfi Zaim Abdul Khalid
– Vountus Indra Mawan, Mak Hee Chun – Ong Soon Hock and Lim Khim Wah – Goh V Shem.
The coach has also been working in England and South Korea and his experience in those countries will also help him in meeting his targets effectively. Kim Her said, “I have faced many challenges as a coach over the years. Trying to overcome the language
barrier while coaching in South Korea and England was one of them. I believe I am ready to take on the pressure of this new role.”
He further added, “BAM have given me a huge responsibility and I just have to do it to the best of my ability. However, it is not a one-man show here in the national set-up and, most importantly, there needs to be good understanding and trust between the
coaches and the players.”
Now, under the charge of Kim Her, the Men’s Doubles top pairs of Malaysia are participating in their first event, which is the China Masters Super Series starting on September 4 in China. His team’s performance in the event will help the coach refine his
training plans for the 2012 London Olympics.
