  1. Buy lice shampoo, lice spray for the house and a lice comb at the store.  I found a set of lice combs at Walmart (one comb is for the lice, the other for the eggs).

Wash the hair with the shampoo.  Shampoo will not kill all the lice and the eggs.  So let the hair dry and then apply baby oil to hair and comb lice and eggs out.  Try to do this outside.  Put lice and eggs in a ziploc bag and close.

Wash pillowcases, blankets, clothes, and sheets in hot water.  Use spray anywhere in the home or car but away from the children.

Don't forget to reapply shampoo in 2 weeks and remove lice and eggs with combs.

It took me a few times to get rid of my daughters lice and myself as well.  Good Luck.

  2. I simply can not believe that everyone is suggesting using chemical treatments. Did they not read your question. You are  breast feeding and have two young children. The last thing you want to be doing is going anywhere near chemicals.

The ONLY safe way to get rid of head lice permanently is to use a totally natural alternative to the chemical preparations then use prevention methods such as hairspray and tea tree mixed with water in a spray bottle every day to ensure they never return.

Before you listen to anyone advising you to use pesticide treatment please consider the following:

No chemical head lice treatment is legally allowed to be labeled as 'safe' as every insecticide is a poison. Every pesticide preparation has the potential to do serious damage depending on the individual. If a lice treatment does not work once it is not going to work twice, in fact the lice that live will breed into a whole new batch that are resistant to that chemical.

Read these articles and try to find a natural remedy containing Neem oil as this renders the lice unable to breed therefore making it impossible for them to build up a resistance.

    Good luck.

  3. How to Treat Lice

Still, when lice show up on a child's head, what's a parent to do? For many, the hardest thing is the guilt and embarrassment that come with an infestation and the worry others will believe they are a dirty family with dirty kids.

If you find lice (I confirmed there were at least four inhabiting my son's hair by using a special metal-toothed "nit comb"), experts advise treating them with over-the-counter medicated shampoos called pediculicides (derived from chrysanthemums). The most common pediculicides are applied to dry hair, left on for 10 minutes, and then rinsed off. Experts consider these products safe as long as they are used according to instructions.

    Check Everyone for Lice

Before treating one family member, check others in the household for bugs. Then treat everyone who's infected at the same time, to avoid passing lice back and forth. Let close friends and schoolmates know to check their own heads (and what to do if they find bugs). Parents should also wash bedding or clothing used by anyone with lice in the 48 hours before treatment to kill any lice that may have somehow come off a person's hair. And though washing a favorite stuffed toy may make sense, extreme cleaning or quarantining of all toys and stuffed animals, while sometimes recommended, is not needed. If parents want to avoid washing everything, says Pollack, "a few minutes in the dryer should kill them ... but make it 20 just to be sure."

  4. I am a CCMA

Wash all the 2 year olds bedding in HOT HOT water, vacuum the room.. put all the plush toys in a plastic bag for 2 weeks.

1 bottle of lice treatment and a metal nit comb will do the trick. Use the shampoo as directed and then pull out all the bugs and eggs with the comb. Make sure that you get all the nits/eggs as one egg will start the process over again. You will have to do this again in 7 to 14 days.. Make sure to wash all towels used in HOT water and wash comb and brushes used.. You will do this again in a week or two as well..

If you have it you have to go through this process as well

  5. Buy some Head lice Medication from the supermarket.
