Question:

Headaches and pregnancy?

When I was in high school, I used to get bad migraines. I quit getting them so bad and when I got off my parents insurance I quit taking the medicine. I'm pregnant now, and I have the worse migraines ever. I don't know if this is a common symptom or not. I have to take heparin injections throughout pregnancy for a blood clotting disorder, and am not sure if I should be concerned and go to the ER or not. I'm telling you, that if I cut my head off that would feel better than these migraines. I am 17 weeks pregnant and have had them really bad the last few weeks. Almost everyday. Do you think this is a side effect of the heparin or common pregnancy symptom, or do you think I should go to the ER. I hate to be such a hypochondriac about stuff if not necessary.

  1. I am on Lovenox for 2  blood clotting disorders and with my last pregnancy I took darvcets... and with this pregnancy I have not had them yet

But I was talking to my cousin and she said that the meds they give while pregnant is called florcets and it lowers the blood pressure... Now darvcets are the only thing that worked for me and it  raises blood pressure.... so you might need to get your blood pressure checked...  I know the lovenox is not giving any issues...

I would like to know how you found out about your disorders please email me

  2. It's not common but it is a pregnancy symptom. Sometimes when your already prone to migraines they can come back or even get worse during pregnancy.  You should definitely talk to your doctor about it.

  3. Since you already know you have a problem with migraines and clotting disorder it is best to call your Dr and see what he/she recommends but in many cases they will say go to the ER to be checked out because while headaches are normal in pregnancy severe headaches that may change your vision can be a sign of a serious problem.

  4. I had the absolute worst non stop 9 month headache when i was preg. The doc said its normal and to take tylenol. Like it even helps!!
