stayed at ClubMed on Provo, back then the island was pretty secluded with a rickety old airfield. Thanks for sharing.

  1. Yes-

Both the island and Club med have changed.

Club med has upgraded to attract more affluent customers.  The food and shows are better.

The island has more development.  More condos, hotels, casinos and restaurants.  The cost of living has increased to the point , locals need two and sometime three jobs.

    The island is still beautiful.

    Cheers and good luck!

  2. Grace Bay Beach has built up in the last 15 years. Many resorts and restaurants to choose from now.

The nice thing about Provo the water and beach are still awesome.

here is a great site with loads of info about the island.

enjoy, the island is still beautiful)

  3. You realize it's been like 15 years since you last visited! That's a LONG time.

Lot's has probably changed.  More people, definitely.

  4. It's changed quite a bit. But if you stayed at ClubMed it might not matter to you. Much more built up and touristy.

  5. Club Med hasn't changed much.  However, it has gained many neighbours...too many.  The population of Provo has multiplied since you were last there, but the airfield is still not what one might describe as sophisticated. I once lived in a house over which all flights passed and I counted that there were over 40 flights per day on weekdays and over 60 flights per day at weekends and one hears of more and more being laid on. The roads are smoother than when you were there, with a major dual carriageway (which people don't understand) and roundabouts (which few people are able to cope with).  Grand Turk has been transformed because of the arrival of cruise ships and the need to cater for the thousands of visitors they bring. Most people who stay at Club Med don't get about much, but if you were to venture forth you would find several supermarkets, a brand new cinema, umpteen restaurants, businesses of all kinds and casinos.  Don't plan on going to the bank for any reason: it is possible to queue for up to an hour and a half for a simple transaction. Don't promise to send postcards to your friends. They'll only get upset when it takes them a year or so to arrive! Enjoy your trip!
