Headleys Ego, Salacres Cool and Mosquito Pilot co-favourites for Betfred Maiden Standard Trophy
Three greyhounds: Headleys Ego, Salacres Cool and Mosquito Pilot, have been rated as co-favourites for the Betfred Maiden Standard Trophy at Nottingham, England, on Monday, April 2, 2012.
The winner of the Grade OR event will be awarded with a cash prize of £150.
The 500 metres flat race is scheduled to start at 19:16 GMT and following are the six runners taking part in it:
Headleys Ego,
Salacres Cool,
Mosquito Pilot,
Francospatch,
Runlikethewind, and
Mays Trotter.
The bookies found it quite hard to rate one particular hound as favourite for the race, as the competition was too close. Thus, the punters will be under immense pressure, as they will be the ones risking money in the race.
Headleys Ego is quite a decent runner, but he has not managed to win many races in recent times. He is a regular at Nottingham, which might work in his favour today. However, the bettors will be a touch reluctant over risking money on him.
L. Tuffin’s trainee was in very good form until his last race, where he failed to make an impression.
He finished fifth after entering the event with a starting price of 3 to 1. His trainer will be expecting him to deliver a much stronger result this time around.
The fawn dog is the son of Express Ego out of Headleys Wish, born in April 2010.
Another hound, who has been given the best odds for winning, is Salacres Cool.
He has also been unable to deliver strong results over the past few months, but has got very good chances of shining at Nottingham today.
P. Harnden’s trained dog finished in a disappointing fifth place last time around at this venue, thus the bettors will not have much confidence in his abilities.
He is the son of Disguised out of Lead Boots and was born in October 2008.
On the other hand, Mosquito Pilot can surprise one and all with his speed. He is out of form at the moment, but can challenge the best in the business, when he is on song.
T. Munslow’s trainee is the son of Hondo Black out of Droopys Lena and was born in September 2009.
The rest of the participants will not find things easy today, however, Francospatch has the potential of causing an upset.
