  1. shower and comb them off get lice medication shampoo use as direstions say so. wash all clothes and beddings sheets. check the baby as well.

  2. get a lice comb and lather hair in conditioner in the hair  conditioner is really good and cheap also leave over night and wash again in morning, well the conditioner  come the hair with the lice comb and they will all come out even the eggs mainly do around ears and the back of head as thats were they mosly lay there eggs lice combs are good so you can comb your hair with it everyday and then there no chance of them spreading and laying eggs in your hair and there good to keep control of it and also its not gona harm ya baby and also tetree oil is very good try them they work trust me

  3. I think they sell shampoo over the counter, dont they?  If it was a matter of shaving his head vs. the entire family getting lice, including your 6wk old baby, Id shave the kid's head.  His hair will grow back.

  4. Well you certainly don't want to be putting chemicals into a baby's scalp.  Put mayonnaise or olive oil on their heads and a shower cap or swim cap. Leave it on a half hour.  Rinse, use a nit comb and remove all the nits...keep looking for nits daily and keep coming them out. (Even two years old is too young for lice treatments I think!)

You can see lice on a baby their hair is so thin, so I wouldn't worry too much about baby just now.

Thoroughly clean and vaccum the 2 year olds room, wash everything in hot soapy water and toss into dryer. Vaccum the mattresses, and vaccum couches etc.

It's a major pain but do everyone so you don't have to go through it again weeks from now.

I'm sure you'll run across it many times over the course of school years and camp etc.

That lice stuff is a pesticide and frankly I don't feel comfortable using it period.  So try every alternative to get rid of them first.  This is the natural one.

The mayo/oil should kill (drown) the lice, but the nits will hatch unless you remove them all and you need a nit comb.  Just repeat everything in a week and then again a week after and you should hopefully be fine.

Some people put drops of tea tree oil in shampoos/conditioners thinking that lice don't like the smell and stay away.  Not convinced of that nor do I believe treatment with that works (some parents opt for that and lice keeps going round and round!)

Thoroughly wash brushes and dip in bleach actually, wash any hats/scarves clothing too, again, hot soapy water.

Toys can be put in a plastic bag tied tight for 2 weeks to ensure they all die off.

Nits cling to the scalp...the heat makes them hatch so gently scrap from the scalp outward and pull them off with your hands if you have to and thoroughly clean and vaccum or just do it outside in the light.  Remember to change your clothing and wash right after too.

  5. Call your ped and ask what they suggest.  You don't want to use otc medicine without doc's okay this young.

  6. Lavender or cedar oil will repel lice from your hair (and stop new eggs being laid).  Remember that essential oils are not to be taken internally particularly undiluted, and you would definitely want to dilute them in a carrier oil (olive etc) before applying to baby's skin/hair.

Diatomaceous earth (food grade not pool grade) will assist in killing the lice on furniture etc.  And can be used on your head though I would probably not use it on a baby (though it is considered safe).

And of course a lice comb and then coating the head in oil (drowns the lice).  Tea tree oil is a popular remedy BUT it is toxic if ingested in small amounts, it is also a skin irritant (and if it irritates skin you surely do not want to get it in your eyes) -so use with caution.

  7. I wouldn't worry too much about the baby.  Just wash his bedding and any toys that your 2 year-old might have come in contact with.  Babies' hair is so sparse and fine, that a thorough combing with a nit comb ought to be enough.

For your 2 year-old, you will need to buy RID shampoo and a nit comb.  Wash his hair with the shampoo, and then thoroughly comb through to remove any nits.  You should repeat this process in a few days, just to make sure.

Make sure everyone in your family is treated, wash all linens, towels, and clothing, vacuum all furniture and floors thoroughly, and make sure you throw the vacuum bag away when you are finished.  Take any stuffed animals and iron or steam them thoroughly.
