More than 100,000 fish worth more than one million pounds (2.1 million dollars, 1.4 million euros) were killed in the invasion at Glenarm Bay and Red Bay, on the County Antrim north-east coast.

We are still assessing the full extent, but it's a disaster," said John Russell, managing director of Northern Salmon Co. Ltd.

"In 30 years, I've never seen anything like it. It was unprecedented, absolutely amazing. The sea was red with these jellyfish and there was nothing we could do about it, absolutely nothing.

"I have never experienced such concentrations of jellyfish spread over such a wide area. The vastness was unbelievable."

  1. Welcome to the earth of the future, courtesy of human-induced climate change.

  2. OMG Aliens are attacking our fish now.

  3. Charlie Bucket.....Please prove to me that you know the exact cause of what happened.  Humans can't induce climate change, you freakin' moron!

  4. It would take a lot of "p" to overcome an attack like that.!  I know it works if you get stung by one (I live in Fl.). That sounds like a real nightmare.

  5. no it was not initiated by Aliens, do you really think they are that interested in a fish farm in Scotland, grow up

  6. Well, there ya go. Not a good day to be a salmon in Ireland.

  7. A salmon farm is really a giant baited trap if you think about it, so the jellyfish were only going that far north because there was a vast amount of food that far north.

  8. I am absolutely certain that extra-terrestrial creatures have a vested interest in Ireland's salmon harvest.  There is no other possible explanation.

  9. Taking all of my experience with aliens into account I would say that this most likely was a pre-meditated plan of attack on their part. Salmon are reknowned for their anti-alien sentiments and striking a critical blow to such a major salmon breeding centre was clearly a tactical move on the alien's part.

What does bother me though is that the attack occurred in Northern Ireland. Typically, the more radical anti-alien salmon occur in the Republic of Ireland (to the south).

    Hmmm, very puzzling.

  10. Hmmmmmmm, Could Be!!!!

Maybe the jellyfish were mad at the salmon!!!

Maybe the salmon were in the jellyfish's mating grounds.!!!!

Maybe they were just really pi**ed off!!!

  11. Call Mulder and Scully stat!  Nooooooo not an alien attack.  LOL
