Headphone jack plugged directly into the mic.. Will it work?

I am trying to get audio out of one device(a raido) via the headphone jack. And plug it directally into my pc via the mic input. Will this work without causing any damage? Thanks http://www.biminitops.biz

  1. So you want to connect from the headphone connection on the radio to the computer, right?

    Is the computer a desktop or a laptop?  If it is a desktop, chances are there should be a line in port, it would be a better to try the line in port first, as it is made for powered audio out sources like radios and MP3 players, if you are connecting it to a laptop, using the mic port should work, but be careful with your volume levels, you can change your volume settings on the master volume control in your taskbar, if it is not in your taskbar, click on start, click run, and type "sndvol32" without quotes


  2. Yes it works, but you can damage your earphones by doing that. Because when you speak the wet air from your mouth will destroy them. Get a cheap microphone, it is better than earphones.

  3. you mean like plugging headphones into the mic jack, and using the headphones as a mic? ya it works really good! it doesnt have as good as sound as a regular mic would have, but it shouldnt damage your computer, ive done it a lot
