Headphone replacement wires red, blue, gold vs red, black, white?

Question

I am replacing the cord on my headphones. The old wires are red, black, white... the new are red, blue, gold. I am reading all sorts of different opinions!

Which goes with which??

Red is Red    ...Black is Blue  .....white is gold.   Try that first before soldering.  The gold thing is what's worrying me.  If the thing doesnt work right, swap blue and gold....but I think this is the right way.
