Headphones and TV?

My tv has no audio socket and i want to use headphones to listen to the audio.

I it possible to connect the headphones to a sky box or a dvd through the red and white audio output sockets. i have an adapter for them.

  1. Without an headphone jack, your main problem will be how to silence the TV speaker while you use the headphones.

    Your best bet is to find a techie friend who know electronics. It's a simply matter of finding the speaker wires, then splicing in a headphone jack that will cut the speakers when you plug in the headphones. Most TV cabinets are now made of thin plastic; very easy to drill a small 1/4"hole to mount the headphone jack. But this MUST be done by someone who knows what they're doing. There is enough high voltage in a TV, even when it is unplugged, to kill you.

    Total cost should be under $5. Headphone jacks are readily available at Radio Shack.


  2. The audio line outputs (red and white) will not work for headphones - those outputs do not supply enough power for headphones.

    What you need is a "headphone amplifier".  It will boost the output of the red, white connectors:
